Pope Francis Hospitalized for Breathing Issues
The Pope was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on February 14 after experiencing breathing difficulties for several days. Vatican officials later confirmed that he is being treated for double pneumonia.
Health Update: No Death Threat, But Recovery Ongoing
During a press conference on Friday, Dr. Alfieri clarified the Pope’s condition, saying:
“Is he out of danger? No. But if the question is, ‘Is he in danger of death?’ the answer is no.”
The Pope will remain in the hospital at least through next week to ensure full recovery.
His condition can change day by day, and close monitoring is required.
Vatican Provides Positive Signs
Despite concerns, Vatican spokesperson Matteo Bruni offered some reassurance:
The Pope slept well and had breakfast while seated in an armchair.
Medical reports on Wednesday evening showed slight improvement in his blood test results.
While Pope Francis continues his treatment, the Vatican remains transparent about his health, following his request to keep the world informed “without hiding anything.”
