Portable protests as government shuts down his unfinished building and hotels for illegal development.

Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has expressed his frustration after the Ogun State government sealed his unfinished building and hotel in Sango-Ota due to illegal development.

A notice of violation shared on Instagram by the ‘Zazu’ singer revealed that the Ogun State Planning and Development Authority was responsible for the sealing. Portable claimed that during the operation, around 20 of his customers and employees were detained.

He also alleged that the alcoholic beverages at his bar were confiscated. Portable stated: “I have faith in Eledumare. No one can deceive me, Omo Olohun. They took more than 20 people, including artists and customers, along with cars, bikes, and even people’s phones and jobs. All those who came for assistance were taken, and they sealed my new unfinished building and hotel. Why? In my hometown, we did not resist; they also confiscated all the drinks we were selling at Odowgu Bar and Food. Why? The government should investigate this matter.

“I use this venue for events and shows, not just for selling drinks. I promote and support people here. The government should recognize that I installed lights everywhere, and before they came for road repairs, I reached out to them for help. Why are they doing this to my property, which I rely on to support my family? They later came and assaulted me, but God is greater than them.”

The Ogun State Planning and Development Authority has not yet responded to these claims.
