A legal expert known simply as JP has announced that the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests are set to resume on Nigeria’s Independence Day, October 1, 2024, unless President Bola Tinubu takes action to meet the protesters’ demands. He made this statement during an interview with journalists at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park located in the Ojota area of Lagos State.
In a video shared by News Central TV, JP emphasized the importance of listening to the president’s words and waiting to see what measures he will implement. He stated, “If the president pledges to lower fuel prices, he will inform us. If he promises to reduce the cost of food items, he will communicate that as well; however, we should not jump to conclusions…”

JP reiterated that since the president addressed the nation earlier that day, it is prudent to wait and observe his actions. He warned that if President Tinubu fails to fulfill his commitments by October 1, the protests will be reinstated.
Additionally, the lawyer cautioned that he would take legal action against any police officer who mistreats him during the protests. This underscores the growing tensions surrounding the demonstrations and the need for accountability.
At 7 am on Sunday, President Bola Tinubu delivered a nationwide address aimed at calming the rising unrest linked to the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests. He called for dialogue and urged an immediate cessation of the nationwide protests that have been ongoing since Thursday.
In his address, Tinubu reassured the public that his administration is committed to listening to the protesters and addressing their concerns. He acknowledged their grievances, stating, “I have heard your calls loud and clear” and encouraged both protesters and organizers to halt further demonstrations to allow for meaningful dialogue.
