Rep. Madaki calls the attempt to remove him a laughable plot by Kwankwaso

The deputy minority leader of the House of Representatives, Ali Madaki, has firmly rejected claims of a conspiracy to remove him orchestrated by the NNPP caucus. He characterized the alleged plot as a “futile effort” driven by their so-called master, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

In a recent interview with DAILY NIGERIAN, Mr. Madaki expressed his amusement at the request for his removal, calling it laughable. He described the actions of the “sacked national leadership” of the NNPP as an example of desperation taken to an extreme.

Mr. Madaki emphasized that the NNPP caucus does not possess the authority to remove him from his position. He referred to the House Standing Order, specifically Order 7, Rule 14, which outlines the proper procedure for leadership changes within the House.

According to Mr. Madaki, any changes to leadership must be executed by a majority of the member parties in the House, and he pointed out that those who signed the removal letter are not affiliated with his party.

He further highlighted that the chairman and the National Working Committee (NWC) members had been dismissed due to a recent court ruling. This ruling, he argued, invalidates Kwankwaso’s claim to membership in the NNPP.

Mr. Madaki also noted that many lawmakers who supposedly endorsed the letter are not actual members of the party. He criticized their willingness to follow Kwankwaso’s directives without question.

Despite the ongoing situation, Mr. Madaki stated that he remains unfazed by the propaganda tactics being employed against him. He expressed confidence in his position and the legitimacy of his leadership.

He also mentioned that the legitimate leadership of the NNPP, under Chief Boniface Aniebonam, will soon hold a press conference to clarify their stance on the matter. This announcement is expected to address the concerns raised by the NNPP caucus.

In conclusion, Mr. Madaki reiterated his belief that the attempts to undermine his leadership are misguided and lack any real foundation. He remains committed to his role and is prepared to confront any challenges that may arise.
