Seyi Tinubu establishes an e-library for aspiring lawmakers

On Friday, the Young Parliamentarians Forum celebrated a significant milestone as Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, made a generous donation of an e-library and co-working space. This contribution marks a major boost for the Forum, which is dedicated to empowering young leaders in Nigeria. The initiative aims to provide resources that facilitate collaboration and innovation among its members.

The Young Parliamentarians Forum, led by Hon. Lamiju Akala, is a recognized entity under the United Nations. It comprises young individuals under the age of 40 who are passionate about shaping the future of Nigeria. These members convene to share ideas and engage with the youth on matters related to the operations of the National Assembly, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

Seyi Tinubu’s donation is a fulfillment of his commitment to support the aspirations of his peers within the Forum. This initiative reflects a dedication to nurturing the next generation of lawmakers, providing them with the tools necessary to advocate for their communities and contribute meaningfully to legislative processes.

The facility, inaugurated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, is located on Mississippi Street in Abuja. This modern, multi-story building is designed to serve as a hub for young parliamentarians. Abbas emphasized that the space is intended to create an enabling environment for strategic discussions and collaborative efforts focused on national progress.

In his remarks, Abbas highlighted the importance of providing young leaders with a platform to engage in dialogue about youth-oriented legislation. The innovative design of the facility aims to inspire creativity and facilitate productive discussions among young lawmakers, ultimately contributing to a more engaged and informed legislative process.

Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila echoed similar sentiments during the inauguration. He praised the initiative, noting that it would have a positive impact on youth engagement and representation within Nigeria’s parliament. Gbajabiamila expressed his wish that such a resource had been available during his own time in office, recognizing its value for fostering collaboration among young legislators.

He commended Seyi Tinubu for initiating this commendable project, stating that it would enhance the legislative process for young parliamentarians. The facility’s features, including an e-library and physical library, are designed to support research and development, equipping young lawmakers with the information they need to make informed decisions.

Additionally, the co-working space is intended to promote networking and collaboration among members of the Forum. By providing a shared environment for young leaders, the facility encourages the exchange of ideas and experiences, fostering a sense of solidarity among the next generation of lawmakers.

The commissioning event was attended by prominent figures, including Mr. Tope Adekoya, CEO of 7-Fifteen Capital Ltd and Co-Chair of The 7-Fifteen Foundation, and Mrs. Adesuwa Belo-Osagie, Co-CEO of 7-Fifteen Capital Ltd and Co-Founder of The 7-Fifteen Foundation. Their involvement in developing the Congress building underscores the importance of private sector support in enhancing public resources for youth empowerment.

The collaborative environment created by this facility is expected to inspire and equip young parliamentarians to drive meaningful change in their communities and beyond.
