Nigerian rapper Vector Tha Viper has criticized Atalanta manager Gasperini for his “harsh” remarks about winger Ademola Lookman following the player’s penalty miss during their 3-1 loss to Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Lookman, who scored a goal after coming on when the team was down 3-0, had an opportunity to net a second but his penalty was saved by Simon Mignolet.
After the match, Gasperini stated that Lookman was “the worst penalty taker he has ever seen” and claimed that Lookman insisted on taking the penalty despite not being the team’s designated kicker. In response, Vector suggested that Gasperini’s comments were racially motivated, recalling that Victor Osimhen faced similar criticism at Napoli. He tweeted, “I thought I was a victor till Napoli started laughing. Make Lookman look well… This skin issue sha.”
Meanwhile, Lookman clarified that, contrary to Gasperini’s assertion, it was the designated penalty taker who asked him to take the shot.
