The Swiss Federation has made a generous donation of 1.2 million Euros to the Borno State Flood Disaster Relief Fund. This contribution aims to provide essential support to those affected by the recent flood disaster in the region.
The announcement of this significant donation was made by Nicolas Lang, the Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria. He visited the government house in Maiduguri, where he led a delegation from the Swiss Embassy to express sympathy for the victims.
During this visit, Ambassador Lang was joined by Mr. Nicolas Martin-Achard, the Senior Humanitarian Advisor, and Mr. Florent Geel, the Senior Political Advisor at the Swiss Embassy. Their presence underscored Switzerland’s commitment to humanitarian efforts in Nigeria.
In addition to the recent donation, Switzerland had previously supported the Borno Model initiative in 2023 with approximately 700,000 USD. This program focuses on facilitating the mass exit of armed Boko Haram insurgents and civilians caught in conflict zones.
