Tems expresses, “I share all that I have with my mother.”

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, recently opened up about her extraordinary relationship with her mother during an interview. The acclaimed artist, famous for her hit song “Mr. Rebel,” emphasized the depth of their connection, stating that she shares everything she has with her mom.

In a conversation with ET at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, held on Sunday, Tems expressed her heartfelt sentiments, saying, “What I have is hers [my mother’s]. We share everything I have.” This statement reflects the profound respect and love she has for her mother, highlighting the importance of family in her life.

Tems also took a moment to reflect on her recent Grammy victory, expressing immense gratitude. “I’m grateful to God. I’m thankful. I think it’s a blessing. I’m extremely blessed and favored. I just want to give that out in any way that I can,” she shared. Her humility and appreciation for her achievements resonate deeply, showcasing her grounded nature despite her rising fame.

At the Grammy Awards, Tems’ song “Love Me Jeje” won the prestigious Best African Music Performance award. During her acceptance speech, she dedicated the award to her mother, further solidifying the bond they share. This moment was not only a celebration of her musical talent but also a tribute to the sacrifices and support her mother has provided throughout her life.

Tems has previously shared that she and her brother were raised singlehandedly by their mother, emphasizing the challenges they faced and the strength of their familial bond. This background has undoubtedly shaped Tems into the artist she is today, instilling in her values of resilience, gratitude, and the importance of sharing success with loved ones.

Tems’ reflections on her relationship with her mother and her heartfelt gratitude for her Grammy win paint a vivid picture of a talented artist deeply rooted in family values. Her story is a reminder of the power of love, support, and the significance of giving back to those who have helped us along the way.
