In 2020, Tesla accused Rivian of stealing its employees to get their hands on important, confidential information about Tesla’s technology and business practices. Tesla claimed that when certain employees left for Rivian, they took valuable secrets with them. Specifically, Tesla reported catching three employees who allegedly grabbed this sensitive data as they were making the transition to Rivian.
On the other side, Rivian has consistently denied these claims. They have called Tesla’s accusations “baseless,” arguing that they are unfounded and without merit.
Despite Rivian’s efforts to have the lawsuit thrown out, a judge in California ruled earlier this year that Rivian needed to stand trial, which was expected to happen in 2025. However, according to recent reports from Bloomberg, Tesla has now indicated that they have reached a “conditional” agreement to settle the case.
