The 2025 Budget will Rely on a Needs Assessment, Says Gbajabiamila.

The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has announced that the 2025 budget for agencies under the State House will be determined by a comprehensive needs assessment. This approach aims to ensure that funding aligns with the actual requirements of these agencies.

Gbajabiamila highlighted the necessity of prioritizing resources, stating that in any country, resources are limited. He expressed the importance of evaluating the current state of agencies and assessing their performance in relation to their mandates and the overarching vision of the administration.

During a recent fact-finding tour of various government agencies, he raised critical questions about how well these agencies have fulfilled their mandates and the significance of those mandates within the context of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He noted that many agencies are inadequately funded, prompting discussions about whether some should be merged or eliminated. Importantly, he clarified that this consideration does not apply solely to State House agencies.

Gbajabiamila assured that the budgeting process for 2025 would not occur in isolation but would be informed by a clear understanding of needs. This shift aims to create a more effective allocation of resources.

In his interactions with agency heads and staff, he committed to enhancing the welfare and working conditions of employees within these agencies. He encouraged staff to adopt a mindset of innovation, excellence, and professionalism to support their leaders in achieving success.

Furthermore, he emphasized the critical role of transparency in the procurement process, which is essential for maintaining the administration’s dedication to good governance and accountability. This focus on transparency is intended to foster trust and integrity within the government.
