The Kaduna State Government has Lifted the Curfew in Kaduna and Zaria Towns.

The Kaduna State Security Council, led by Governor Uba Sani, has decided to lift the 6pm to 8am curfew in Kaduna and Zaria towns, effective immediately as of Tuesday, 13th August 2024. This change allows law-abiding citizens to move freely and engage in legitimate activities without any restrictions.

In a statement issued by Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, it was emphasized that the removal of the curfew is aimed at enhancing the daily lives of residents in the affected areas.

The Security Council conducted an extensive assessment and unanimously recommended the curfew’s removal, reaffirming its commitment to the safety and security of the people in Kaduna State.

However, the Council cautioned that any processions or gatherings should be coordinated with the relevant authorities to prevent any disturbances to public order. This measure is intended to ensure the overall safety of the community.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted that security forces will remain vigilant for any potential threats to public peace and will take necessary actions against individuals or groups that pose such threats.

Governor Sani expressed his gratitude to the leadership of security agencies, as well as religious and traditional leaders, for their efforts in managing the situation following recent protests in Kaduna and Zaria. He assured stakeholders of his commitment to inclusive governance and ongoing engagement to promote peace, unity, and development in Kaduna State.
