The National grid has been Restored After a Brief Disturbance, Says TCN.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the national grid has been restored following a temporary disturbance that occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Saturday. Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs, shared this information in a statement issued in Abuja.

Mbah explained that TCN engineers at the Jebba Transmission Substation effectively isolated the faulty current transformer. This action was crucial in addressing the issue and ensuring the safety of the grid.

Additionally, the engineers reconfigured the busbar arrangement, which allowed for the restoration of power supply not only to the station but also to other parts of the grid. This swift response was essential in minimizing the impact of the disturbance.

According to reports from the National Control Centre, a bus section of a current transformer exploded at the 330kV Jebba Transmission Substation. The protection system was activated as anticipated, promptly opening the busbars to contain the explosion and prevent fire outbreaks or further damage to adjacent equipment. Mbah noted that this protective action resulted in the temporary disturbance on the grid.
