The Nigeria Police Force Zone 9 Headquarters in Umuahia has denied reports claiming that Mr. Emeka Rollas, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, was arrested. The denial came from the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Iheanetu Bruno Chukwudera, who labeled the reports as misleading.
“The attention of Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia, has been drawn to false and misleading information circulating online regarding the alleged arrest of the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria by officers from the Zonal Command,” he stated.
Chukwudera clarified the situation, explaining that on January 9, 2025, the President held a meeting at a location in Umuahia. During this meeting, a heated argument erupted, prompting police intervention to restore order and prevent any escalation.
Due to the meeting’s proximity to the Zone 9 Headquarters, the individuals involved were brought to the command to help de-escalate the situation. He noted that before the meeting, the President had filed a petition against certain members, raising concerns about their activities, which were under investigation by the command.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Suleiman Yusuf, addressed both the aggrieved members and the President during the discussion. Following this meeting, all parties were allowed to return home without any arrests or intimidation. The command spokesperson made it clear that no one, including the Guild’s President, was detained.
