Timini Egbuson claims that musicians don’t support Nollywood as much.

Movie star Timini Egbuson has suggested that musicians do not provide as much support to the film industry as actors do for the music scene. He expressed his desire for greater collaboration and backing from musicians towards Nollywood.

In a post on his X handle on Sunday, he wrote, “[I] really wish musicians supported Nollywood the way we support their music, but that’s a conversation for another day.” This comment highlights a perceived imbalance in the support systems between the two industries, despite their close relationship.

The Nigerian film and music industries have historically been interconnected. Over the years, many musicians have appeared in Nollywood films, showcasing their talents beyond music. Conversely, numerous actors have ventured into music, releasing their own tracks and even collaborating with established musicians. Additionally, several actresses have made appearances as vixens in music videos, further blurring the lines between the two entertainment sectors.

This interplay demonstrates a mutual influence, yet Timini’s remarks suggest that the support may not be as reciprocal as it could be. The call for musicians to engage more with Nollywood reflects a broader conversation about collaboration and recognition within Nigeria’s vibrant entertainment landscape.

In related news, Nollywood actress Doris Ogala recently commented on the long-overdue divorce of music star 2Baba and his wife Annie, indicating that discussions surrounding celebrity relationships and their impact on the industry are also prevalent in the public sphere. Such conversations contribute to the ongoing dialogue about the dynamics within Nigeria’s entertainment world, where both film and music play significant roles in shaping culture and society.
