Tinubu expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in several states, destruction of public facilities, and widespread looting, which contradicted the organizers’ promise of peaceful protests.

Tinubu lamented that the destruction of properties sets the nation back, as resources will now be needed for restoration. He extended his sympathies to the families of those who died in the protests and emphasized the need to halt further bloodshed, violence, and destruction. As the President, he pledged to ensure public order and protect the lives and property of every citizen, vowing not to allow a few with political motives to divide the nation.
The 10-day planned protest, initially focused on the rising cost of living and hunger, spiraled into violence, property damage, and loss of lives across the country. At least 17 people were reported to have died during the protests.
