President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sanctioned the reorganization of the Executive Management for 12 River Basin Development Authorities under the Ministry of Water Resources.
The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in Abuja on Wednesday.
In a statement titled ‘President Tinubu approves Executive Management for River Basin Development Authorities,’ Onanuga listed the authorities, starting with the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority in Abeokuta, which includes Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, and Osun, with Hon. Odebunmi Olusegun serving as Chairman and Engr. Dr. Adedeji Ashiru as Managing Director.
Next is the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority in Yola, covering Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, and Bauchi, led by Alh. Sanusi Mohammed Babantanko as Chairman and Samuel Mahmud Mohammed as Managing Director.
The Chad Basin Development Authority in Maiduguri, which encompasses Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa, will be chaired by Prof. Abdu Dauda, with Tijjani Musa Tumsa as Managing Director.
The Benin Owena Development Authority, which serves Edo, Delta North, Ondo, and Ekiti, will be headed by Hon. Mike Ohio Ezomo as Chairman and Femi Adekanbi as Managing Director.
The Niger Delta Basin Development Authority, covering Rivers, Bayelsa, and parts of Delta, will be led by Chief Ebikemi Boi Bosin as Chairman and Hon. Amgbare Ebitimi as Managing Director.
The Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority in Minna, which includes Niger, Kaduna, and FCT, will be chaired by Haruna Y. Usman, with Dangajere Shuaibu Bawa Jaja as Managing Director.
The Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority in Ilorin, comprising Kwara and Kogi, will be chaired by Abdullateef Alakawa, with Engr. George Olumoroti as Managing Director.
The Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority in Makurdi will oversee Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Kogi, with Dr. Amos Gizo Yadukso as Chairman and Engr. Ninga Terese as Managing Director.
The Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority in Owerri, which includes Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi, will be chaired by Senator Emmanuel Anosike, with Rt. Hon. Emeka Nduka as Managing Director.
The Hadejia Jamaere River Basin Development Authority in Kano will serve Kano, Jigawa, and Bauchi, with Mamman Da’u Aliyu as Chairman and Engr. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi as Managing Director.
The Cross River Basin Development Authority, covering Cross River and Akwa Ibom, will be led by Mr. Wabilly Nyiam as Chairman and Mrs. Glory Ekpo Oho as Managing Director.

The Sokoto Rima Basin Development Authority in Sokoto, which spans Kebbi, Zamfara, and Katsina, will be chaired by Hon. Bello Yahaya Wurno, with Abubakar Mallam as Managing Director.
President Tinubu anticipates that the appointees will leverage their extensive experience to enhance the effectiveness of the organizations, aligning with the administration’s dedication to improving the lives of citizens.
