President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to leave Abuja on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit. This significant event aims to address pressing issues related to the current situation in the Middle East.
The summit is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024. It is a key gathering of leaders and officials from various Arab and Islamic nations, reflecting the importance of collaboration in addressing regional challenges.
According to Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the summit will focus on critical matters, particularly the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict. President Tinubu is expected to deliver remarks highlighting Nigeria’s strong advocacy for an immediate ceasefire.
In addition to calling for a ceasefire, Nigeria will emphasize the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. This reflects the country’s commitment to fostering stability and peace in the region.
Furthermore, Nigeria will advocate for renewed efforts to revive the two-state solution, which is seen as a pathway to achieving lasting peace in the Middle East. This approach underscores Nigeria’s dedication to supporting diplomatic solutions.

Accompanying President Tinubu on this important diplomatic mission will be several key officials. Among them is Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who will play a crucial role in discussions at the summit.
Other members of the entourage include Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, and Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation. Additionally, Amb. Mohammed Mohammed, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, will also be part of the delegation.
After the summit concludes, President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja, concluding this significant engagement aimed at addressing critical regional issues and promoting peace.
