Top Google Leaders From NotebookLM Are Leaving To Start Their Own Company

Three members of Google’s NotebookLM team, which focuses on innovative technology, have decided to leave the company to start their own new venture. Among those leaving is Raiza Martin, the team leader, along with Jason Spielman, a designer, and Stephen Hughes, an engineer.

Raiza shared on LinkedIn that she, along with her co-founders, feels there is a great chance to create something impactful in the technology field, specifically in areas they are passionate about.

The new startup they are forming is currently operating in “stealth mode,” which means they are keeping everything about it very secretive. They have set up a very basic website, but it doesn’t provide any information about what the company will actually do or what it will be called. It’s still unclear if they will continue working on similar projects that made NotebookLM popular, like creating podcasts with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) or developing advanced note-taking tools, or if they will explore entirely different ideas.

In an interview with TechCrunch, Raiza didn’t give much away but suggested that the startup will focus on products for consumers—everyday people. She emphasized that the goal of her team is to create something beneficial that uses the latest developments in AI technology.

She mentioned, “As the capabilities of these advanced AI models keep improving, there’s a need for thoughtful products that make this technology easy to understand and useful for everyone.” The team aims to prioritize the needs of users when developing their new AI product.

Raiza also pointed out that their startup is still in the very early stages of development and hasn’t secured any financing just yet. However, she expressed that they have received significant encouragement and support from others outside of Google, including fellow entrepreneurs, investors, and academics who have shown interest in joining their journey. This support has been inspiring for their small team as they embark on this new path.
