The well-known Nigerian actress, Abimbola Craig, has shared her reasons for being unmarried at 38. In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Craig stated her belief that “marriage is a scam.”
She criticized traditional marital roles that often place the burden of home management and partner care on women, calling the title “Mrs” a shorthand for “Master’s in Residential Servicing.”
Craig also emphasized that her choice to remain single isn’t due to a rejection of marriage, but rather her desire for a partner who possesses self-awareness and a sense of purpose.
“All marriage is a scam. When I was young, my mother often told me that marriage is an institution. She said that being called ‘Mrs’ means ‘Master’s in Residential Servicing,’” she stated.
“I’m not married, not because I don’t want to be, but because if a man doesn’t know who he is, he cannot be with me.”
Craig is widely recognized for her role as Tiwalade in the popular web series ‘Skinny Girl in Transit.’ She has also established herself as a producer, co-producing the 2019 box office success ‘Sugar Rush’ with Jade Osiberu.
Earlier this year, she shared details about a near-death experience she had after undergoing brain surgery in 2014.
Craig described her struggle with serious complications, including nausea, insomnia, and weight loss, which made her fear for her life.
