Nigerian artist Tiwa Savage expresses her views on why Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy—collectively known as the “Big 3” of Afrobeats—continue to remain significant years after their initial rise to fame.
During her appearance on the Shopping The Sneakers podcast, Tiwa Savage praised Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as exemplary artists who have successfully built enduring relationships with their fans.
“It’s not solely about the music; it’s about your fanbase and your brand,” Savage noted. “You need to consider your fashion and be relatable. Many artists simply release music without truly connecting with their audience,” she added.
Savage emphasized that forming genuine connections with fans goes beyond just dropping hit songs; it involves lifestyle, image, and authenticity. She acknowledged Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy for excelling in this strategy, which helps maintain their relevance even during quieter periods in music.
“They are adored for their lifestyles. Whether they release a song or not, they remain part of the conversation. Therefore, it’s crucial to cultivate a fanbase. Your strength is only as good as your team,” Savage elaborated.
