Wizkid, Tinubu, Baltasar Engonga, and others have been named among ‘Africa’s most talked about people of 2024.’

Nigerians dominated the list of Africa’s Most Talked About People of 2024, as compiled by Top Charts Africa. The recently released rankings show that Nigerians occupy 18 of the top 30 spots.

Leading the list is Nigerian singer Wizkid, who has remained a trending topic throughout the year due to his ongoing rivalry with Davido and the release of his new album, Morayo.

In the second position is Kenya’s President William Ruto, who made international headlines in June when thousands of Kenyans protested against legislation that increased taxes. Following the storming of the Kenyan Parliament, Ruto rejected the controversial Bill on June 28 and signed the Appropriations Bill 2024 to address the resulting budget shortfall.

Nigerian afrobeats artist Davido ranks third on the list. His year-long popularity peaked with his highly publicized wedding to his wife, Chioma, in June, referred to as Chivido 2024.

The top 10 also includes Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote, former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, controversial Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky, South African singer Tyla, Nigerian politician Peter Obi, and South African music star Liema Pantsi.

Notably, Baltasar Engonga, the controversial former Equatoguinean public official who gained notoriety after intimate videos of him surfaced online, also made the list.
