World’s Heaviest Man, Khalid Bin Mohsen Shaari, Unrecognizable After Shedding 542kg Following Saudi King’s Offer (Photos)

The world’s heaviest man, who was once lifted by a crane, has experienced an incredible weight loss after receiving an offer from the Saudi King. Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari, a young man from Saudi Arabia, previously weighed 610 kilograms and was recognized as the heaviest person alive. However, he has undergone a remarkable transformation, losing an astonishing 542 kilograms, thanks to an intervention by the late King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. This journey began in 2013 when Shaari was bedridden for over three years, weighing 610 kilograms.

Reports indicate that he was not only the heaviest person alive but also the second heaviest person in history. Shaari’s health was so critical that he relied entirely on his family and friends for his basic needs. When he sought assistance, it caught the attention of King Abdullah, who decided to implement a comprehensive and costly plan to save his life. This plan provided Shaari with access to top-notch medical care at no cost. He was transported from his home in Jazan to King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh using a forklift and a specially designed bed. At the hospital, a team of 30 medical professionals was assembled to care for him.

Under the supervision of a committed team, a rigorous treatment plan was developed, incorporating both surgical and therapeutic methods. His treatment involved gastric bypass surgery, along with a tailored diet and exercise program designed to meet his specific needs. Remarkably, Khalid lost nearly half of his total weight within just six months.

The comprehensive care Shaari received at the hospital included intensive physiotherapy sessions that aided him in regaining mobility he had lost for years. By the conclusion of his weight-loss journey, Khalid had shed an incredible 542 kilograms, with the last report in 2023.

At that point, his weight was reduced from 610 kilograms to just 63.5 kilograms. However, several surgeries were performed to remove the excess skin.
