YouTube has just announced that it is expanding its auto-dubbing feature, which allows creators to automatically create translated audio tracks for their videos. This means that many more YouTube channels will now be able to use this tool, making it easier for viewers around the world to enjoy and understand the content.
The auto-dubbing feature was first introduced at a conference called Vidcon last year, but at that time, it was only available to a small group of creators who were testing it out. Now, YouTube is making it accessible to hundreds of thousands of additional channels, especially those that focus on educational content, like cooking tutorials or sewing lessons. Soon, it will also be available for other types of videos.
Using this feature is simple. When creators upload a video, YouTube will automatically recognize the language spoken in the video and generate dubbed versions in various other languages. Currently, the feature supports multiple languages, including English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.

YouTube’s auto-dubbing technology uses advanced AI from Google’s Gemini system to mimic human speech. However, the company has cautioned that the technology is still being developed, so it might not always work perfectly. Sometimes the translations may not be accurate, or the voice used for dubbing might not sound exactly like the original speaker. YouTube appreciates viewers’ patience and feedback as they work on improving this feature.
Additionally, YouTube mentioned that creators can look forward to another new feature called “Expressive Speech.” This upcoming update aims to make the dubbed voices sound more like the original creators by capturing their tone, emotions, and even the background sounds of their videos, making the viewing experience more authentic.
