Nollywood actor and self-proclaimed cleric Yul Edochie has announced that he identifies as a “hardcore traditionalist.” This news has taken many by surprise, especially since the controversial actor established his own online church, The Salvation Ministry, last year.
In a recent Instagram post, Edochie emphasized that he will never forsake the religion of his ancestors, strongly suggesting his conversion to traditional beliefs. He expressed that the fear of public judgment is driving Africans away from their original faiths.
He stated: “Due to the fear of what others might think, Africans are distancing themselves from their powerful religion and authenticity. This is an abomination! I will never turn my back on the ways of my forefathers, which are rooted in truth, transparency, and fairness. I’m a hardcore traditionalist.”
In December, Edochie also claimed that many Nigerian pastors are actually meant to be native doctors but have renounced their true calling due to the negative perceptions created by Western influences and the film industry, which have labeled native doctors as “evil.”
